What it is

Anesthesia Outcomes Shadow Registry assembles a facility-level — and where state law permits, provider-level — view of anesthesia outcomes from CMS Medicare and Medicaid claims, NPDB malpractice query data, state malpractice disclosure (where public), hospital quality reports, and FDA MAUDE for anesthesia equipment incidents.

The AQI National Anesthesia Clinical Outcomes Registry exists, but it is voluntary, private, and serves the specialty's internal benchmarking. There is no public-facing equivalent. Surgical patients choosing an ASC or hospital — particularly for elective procedures with anesthesia-driven mortality and morbidity profiles — have no comparison shopping data.
